The effort to make University of Malaya a world class centre of research and learning is a multifaceted one. One of the main efforts involves the establishment of a sustainable pool of excellent academicians and researchers servicing the university and the nation. To achieve this objective, the Bright Sparks Unit was established by the University on the 9th of September 2009 with the task of recruiting outstanding students and scholars with deep interest in research and academic work to join the university’s academic workforce. Under the Bright Sparks Program (BSP), bright, enthusiastic candidates are offered various academic and research incentives to work and further their career in UM.
